When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in late 2009 when I realized that I need to find a way to express my other loves (Baking, photography, fashion, traveling, God, and spending time with those I love). You see, I was starting my college career as a premed student and I felt like my whole life was revolving around research, labs, and exams. I wanted balance.  

What is the first thing you do in the morning? 

After my morning prayer I make sure I do at least 5 minutes of a mixture of stretching/Pilates/yoga... it's a great way to get you started on a busy day.

How would you describe your personal style?

I usually style my look depending on how I am feeling that day. My week's style can easily range from bohemian chick to the whole business/classy style. It's quite fun not sticking to one style.

Do you have a favorite color? and which one is it?

It depends on the item it is on... Red for dresses, coral or blush for blouses, and blue for everything else 

What are the must-haves in your wardrobe?

Maxi dresses/skirts. Absolutely love them. I mean, how can you not?

Do you have favorite brands? Which one ?

I don't buy by brand... if I like it, I buy it

Can you give a stylish tip to the So Stylish community?

Don't be afraid to try new things, even if the aren't in your range of style. You might find your next favorite thing.

Today is the interview #15, I introduce you Jemy, she is from the Philippines and she owns the blog "The Cheshire Cat".

When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging back in 2008 but it was more personal, usually just a daily injection of my random ramblings and thoughts. When I got a little more hooked into fashion, I decided to create a blog that’s more focused on clothing, styling and anything fashion-related but still has a little touch of my personal life. I created my fashion blog just last May 2011.

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

Pick up my phone and check for messages, wash my face with soap and water then open my online accounts. I skip breakfast. =)

How would you describe your personal style?

I usually have a thing for eccentric pieces, the ones you won’t normally see in a crowd but are still inside the borderline of wearable-comfortable-and-socially-acceptable kind of style. I can describe my style as the fusion of gyaru and grunge fashion stuck in a semi-realistic colorful world.

Do you have a favorite color? and which one is it?

I think it’s safe to say that BLACK is my favorite crayon. This is the most versatile color for me since it can go with anything!

What are the must-haves in your wardrobe?

Statement shirts or graphic tees, perfect-fitting jeans, tank tops, dress for occasions, denim shorts and basic skirts.

What are your favorite brands?

Forever 21, Zara, Topshop, Vans, American Boulevard

Can you give a stylish tip to the So Stylish community?

It is not necessary to splurge on signature items. Be a thrifty shopper and always believe that you could be chic without spending too much. You can be sexy without showing too much by just being yourself and being confident with what you wear. More importantly, dress to express, not to impress.

When and why did you start blogging?

I started my own blog in the end of March 2011. However, I was reading other blogs and have been watching videos of youtube "gurus" since 2009 and really got hooked!  

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

It really depends if I have to go to work or not. Since I work parttime, my timetable changes constantly. So, if I don't need rush in the early morning, I start my day by having breakfast and catching up with my twitter feed and watching the daily new Shaytards viedo on youtube :) I prefer to read other blogs in the evenings. No idea why :) 

How would you describe your personal style?

I don't think I have one specific style. It really depends on my mood; there are days when I prefer a bit of an edgier look, but normally I stick to more romantic and ore classic styles.

Do you have a favorite color? and which one is it?

I really love lavender and orange. But I don't specifically focus on including these color in my outfits.

What are the must-haves in your wardrobe?

Must-haves for me are definitely: a blazer, a pair of comfy ballerinas, and perfectly fitting jeans. These are my simple basics which always look great! Pairing it with certain accessories such as unique heels, sunnies or a hat can immediately change this classic look into something unique and stylish :) 

What are your favorite brands?

I mostly shop in h&m & Zara, because this is what my student-budget allows ;) I loooove Jeffrey Cambpell shoes and Asos & Nasty Gal are my favorite online stores!

Can you give a stylish tip to the So Stylish community?

My general tip would be to focus on accessories! They can add so much to a simple outfit and do not have to cost a lot at all :)

When and why did you start blogging?

When I was 12 years old I started with blogging, but last year I started with fashion blog (jitasekfashion.blogspot.com). I love fashion and I wanted to share with someone about my photos, my style, others..

I turn on facebook :D Ok, seriously: I get up from bed, clean my teeth and prepare a good coffee.

I think, that my style is a little bit extravagant and simple.

When and why did you start blogging?

I was inspired by 2 friends who started a home improvement blog a few months ago.  Before then, I really wanted to create my own fashion blog, but thought that it would be too time consuming.  After chatting with them, they helped me to see that it was possible to do this!  My blog has become my own personal fashion diary that I’ve been able to share with others.   

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

I pray, enjoy one cup of coffee and have breakfast.

How would you describe your personal style?

It’s very girly and classic.  I love dressing up, even when I wear casual clothing.

Do you have a favorite color? and which one is it?

White is becoming a color that I adore because it’s so classic, clean, and chic!  The color makes me feel like a lady.

What are the must-haves in your wardrobe?

Great pair of fitted jeans, fitted blazer, neutral pair of heels, tailored white shirt, and pearls!

What are your favorite brands?

I have several:  H&M, Calvin Klein, Miss Sixty, Zara, Mango, Tahari, Citizens of Humanity, Tracy Reese, BCBG, and Marc New York.   However, I typically gravitate towards whatever I like without looking at the label.  Fashion is a self expression of who you are, so don’t limit yourself to brand labels.

Can you give a stylish tip to the So Stylish community?

Stay true to who you are!  Embrace your own personal style, be inspired, but never conform unless you want to.  FASHION is about “Finding a Simple Happiness in Owning Newness!” It’s about reflecting your passions and is the greatest form of self expression.

Today is the interview #10, I introduce you Mela, she is from the Philippines and she owns the blog "What, When and Wearabouts".

When and why did you start blogging?

I wanted to have my own blog since last year but I underestimated myself at that time. I had apprehensions like being bragged as self-centered, proud, or vain. I also had seconds thoughts of pushing through since I live in a small province (definitely miles and seas away from the Philippines' main city Manila the tavern of our country's top bloggers) and blogging is not much of a fad here. To add more, I didn't have blogger friends to support me and market my blog.

After having three consecutive fun outfit shoots with my brother, I dived in and made the crazy, bold decision to put up my own blog on the first day of April 2011. I said to myself, "If I wouldn't take the risk now, I will never know how things would turnout." And gladly, things are going fine with my blog. I got nearly six thousand hits on the first two months despite my irregular posting. I still couldn't post daily but seeing the views grow everyday is just a magical.

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

Believe it or not, the first thing that I do is pray. After reading the day's Bible reflection, I twist and turn and stretch, then bring myself up to check my face in front of the mirror. I feel very conscious with zits, that's why. 

How would you describe your personal style?

My style is versatile in a very girl-y way. I can look vintage-girly today, then urban/boho-girly tomorrow. I absolutely love colors! Although I'm currently trying to work myself with monotones and plains, bright colors, prints, and stripes are just my favorite. Whenever I go over the top, I always have the people at home to remind me to tone down. The music that I listen to every morning basically affects my daily wear.   

Do you have a favorite color? and which one is it?

I have two favorites: Yellow is just the happiest color and Pink just like the typical girly-girls out there.

What are the must-haves in your wardrobe?

A white tee, a printed cardigan, nice fitting jeans and black flats you can never go wrong with them. 

What are your favorite brands?

I'm not really brand-conscious. I purchase pieces as long as they look nice and unique. I buy everywhere, from bazaars to malls to outlets. But since you're asking for brands, then I can say Forever 21, H&M, Mango, and People are People. If you are from the Philippines, SM Department Store also sells a lot of fun yet very affordable pieces. 

Can you give a stylish tip to the So Stylish community?

Never dress to impress. Wear that outfit because that is who you are. Because eventually, that it is not what makes you stand out; it will always be yourself your own person wearing, flaunting, and giving justice to the outfit. Be brave enough to express yourself through clothing. People might glare, be unimpressed; But if you are comfortable with what you're wearing, you can still walk head-up. Don't just go with the fashion flow because sooner or later fads will change. Establish your own style, nonetheless, have fashion inspirations, follow blogs--they help a lot and I can attest to that.
